AMD has launched a pair of new budget chips in the 8000 series and roped its Apu Gpus
AMD has finally launched two new processors in the 8000 series of Apus, but these processors are not strictly Apu (Accelerated Processing Unit), and the massive integrated GPU is completely disabled.2 That may not seem worth considering, but AMD has sweetened the deal by making it the cheapest AM5 socket chip ever.

We first heard the story of these new models based on the non-chipset Phoenix 2 architecture, back in May, and now the full global silicon in our hands was originally used in laptops and some handheld PCs, but the design in the form of 8000G series. This is the first time that we have seen this product on the desktop PC market. The best of them, the Ryzen7 8700G, is a great way to get started on the basics of a cheap 1080p gaming PC, but a little on the expensive side ofド329 for 9 months. This is the same price as the Ryzen7 7700, which only has a very basic GPU, but it has a higher boost clock speed and a larger L3 cache, making it a better CPU than the 8700G.The new Ryzen7 8700F has no GPU at all and has a lower boost clock than the 8700G and 7700. It's pretty cheap - for9269 a month, 9 other 2-core processes and, unlike the Ryzen7 7700, the box includes a Wraith Stealth CPU cooler. It is not a great air cooler, but it will start you up and run.

However, the problem found with the 8700G was that when paired with a discrete graphics card, it performed significantly worse than a comparable chiplet-based CPU. It's going to be the same as the 8700F, and you can mostly blame the lack of L3 cache for lower frame rates. But saving60 Savings is saving60 savings and can be up and running without having to fork for a third-party cooler.

But if it's still too expensive, how about a CPU with 6 cores, 12 threads, and a 4.7GHz boost clock that sounds like a how169?This is really cheap, but the problem with the new Ryzen5 8400F is that the GPU-less Ryzen5 7500F is only more10, which has a 3 times the amount of L2 cache and a remarkably high boost clock.

And since all of the above chips in the table above have a TDP of 65W, it's not like the 8400F uses less power.

AMD has claimed a performance victory over comparable budget Intel chips of the past 2 generations. The Core i5 14400F has a frame rate of up to 8700% higher than the 24F.It's worth noting that these are AMD's own cherry pick results, but let's see what they look like in independent testing.

The 8700F and 8400F are chips that are likely to have failed the binning process to become an 8000G processor due to a manufacturing defect in the GPU. So instead of crushing them and sticking them in the trash, repackaging them as a budget offer is a wise choice.

Well, the 8700F is certainly a good option for budget-oriented PC builders, but the 8400F isn't cheap enough. For the price of a couple of coffee, you can get a much better Ryzen5 8500G or Ryzen5 7500F.

The latter has only 4 calculation units, half of the chips on the Steam deck, so even 1080p is mostly limited to basic games and older games.I don't play games on a 7500F GPU, but given that it's a more capable CPU among 2 CPUs (L3 caches can help a lot in games), that's where my money goes.

With AMD gearing up to launch the upcoming Zen5 range for desktop PCs, laptops, workstations and really everything, we can't see AMD releasing any more Zen4 variants.
