The CEO of Take-Two says in a vague answer about the fate of Kerbal and OlliOlli studios, "We're not trying to do anything cute and hard," but it's cute and hard.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told IGN that the company has not shut down kerbal Space Program2 developer Intercept Games or OlliOlli maker Roll7.

"To be clear, we didn't shutter those studios," Zelnick told the site. "And we're always looking at the release schedule in every studio and making sure it makes sense. We are very sensible because we have already come to the conclusion and are in the midst of a cost reduction program that is currently fully deployed. We announced that we are saving saving165 million in existing and future costs, but we have not shut down anything."

What's not clear from his comments is whether Zelnick really means Intercept and Roll7 will continue to work the way they have, or whether he's making a technical distinction, they haven't closed yet (read about the evidence related to this concept), or copper has been removed from the building. The studio still technically exists as a business entity, or is somehow caught up in the publishing label of its parent company, Take—Two's private division.

The main source of news of the closure was Bloomberg, who reported 2 weeks ago that both studios had been closed as part of Take-Two's announced cost-cutting plan. There was also a warning notice (a government-appointed head-up before the mass layoffs) in which Take-Two said it was cutting 60 jobs in Seattle, where Intercept Games is based because of its "closure.""

Take-Two will not comment on the reported closures, except to reiterate its cost-cutting plan and say the private sector label will continue to update Kerbal Space Program2. After the news of the cut, the official X account of Kerbal Space Program2 said, "We are still working on the work of ksp2. Let's talk more when we can."

Jason Schreier, a Bloomberg reporter who broke the alleged closure, pointed out in X that Take-Two closed BioShock2 developer 2K Marin in 2013, suggesting that Intercept and Roll7 may have been receiving the same treatment.

Schreier also shared a note that he says was delivered to Roll7 employees earlier this month, stating that Take-Two is proposing to "shut down" Studio—ie, which will be closed but not yet, which supports "well, technically speaking."..Read Zelnick's comment.

In a couple of follow-up responses to IGN, Zelnick and Take-Two PR representatives indicated that they did not elaborate on the studio's fate today, suggesting that it was the responsibility of the Private Division to do so.

"We tend to leave those announcements on the label and we don't tend to talk about them, so we're not trying to be cute or hard today," Zelnick said. "It's just that we don't tend to bring those discussions into these meetings."
