The new multi-vs character is bad news for a guy who said, "I'll cut my ball if Banana Guard is added

Banana Guard is a minor character of adventure time. They look like banana popsicles and are not an obvious choice on the ensemble roster of Warner Bros. fighting game MultiVersus. For example, powerpuff girls are expected, but not yet revealed. But the Banana Guard has just made a cut, and some fans can't accept it.

Before Banana Guard was confirmed in today's introductory trailer, the MultiVersus X account stirred up rumors about the potassium-rich addition by mailing bananas to players and reacting to speculation with banana puns such as "I'm peeling good about the launch date.""It was hard to seriously doubt that the banana guard was coming, but some players desperately convinced it was a ploy.

When Banana Guard briefly appeared in a trailer posted before the announcement, one player carefully analyzed the video frame and concluded that Banana Guard was just a placeholder. Why tweet all the banana emojis, and "red herring" means fooling the player before the real reveal of another character. Maybe the banana was pointing towards the chimp's evil genius Mojo Jojo, the arch nemesis of the Powerpuff Girls?

Another, more confident, Reddit poster declared: "If the banana Guard is added, I will cut my ball.""Sorry for their ball, but the Banana Guard is definitely participating in the game.

Distrust arose from the relative ambiguity and timing of the Banana Guard. Along with the Joker, this is a big MultiVersus release addition — it's out in a few weeks — and Banana Guard isn't just a quirky character, but a minor quirky character from the show that already has 2 characters on the MultiVersus roster.

It's definitely a lack of good reason to add Banana Guard, which makes Banana Guard a good comedy pick, and while many players seem to enjoy the announcement, some of the original unbelievers aren't impressed as the reality of the incoming banana meta begins.

"I was quite disappointed," one fan said. "I love having a joke character, but I want it to be more interesting than a random background guard. At least some people are happy! I don't care much."

I can understand the disappointment: Players were expecting a fan favorite character to hit the roster for the launch, and Fortnite got a banana when it tapped the potential for a pretty thoroughly sensuous banana comedy.

But I'll be having a hard time getting angry with a goofy banana cylinder. It's hard to react to them with a sober analysis, but there are a few anyway: Player First Games sees banana Guard as a spear-wielding weapon fighter with a solid (probably) long reach for their gear, not for their respect, but for another DC hero or cartoon network character who probably just punches. Instead, the game

MultiVersus went into open beta in 2022, but last year Player First Games unexpectedly went offline to work with a launch version scheduled to be released on Steam on May 5-28.
