PALWORLD CEO Surprised at Creation of Major Clones of His Company's Games: "This is an Incredible Time".

However, it seems that Palworld CEO Takurai Mizobe could not be happier.

As Automaton reported, Mizobe responded on Twitter to the recently announced Palworld look-alike Auroria, developed by Tianjin Wumai Technology and published by Tencent. Auroria appears to have all the hallmarks of a pocket pair of creature capture games: cute creatures, co-op survival sandbox, base building.

Mizobe, who posted a screenshot of Auroria on Twitter, said, "Tencent is already making a Pal World clone game! Many companies in China are simultaneously developing mobile clones of Palworld, with budgets in the 10 billion yen [about $64.6 million] range, 10 times that of Palworld. ...... Next year, many phantom impact level creature (or beautiful girl) development games may appear: ...... It's an unbelievable time."

"It's a time when you can't believe it.

Mizobe seems remarkably enthusiastic about a game that could be a tough competitor. And while "Pal World" itself is not unique by any means, what is these days? It will be interesting to see if a larger, higher-budget attempt at the Pocket Pairs formula can have the same electrifying effect as "Pal World": released in January, it became the second game in Steam history to reach 2 million simultaneous connections, taking people by surprise. It made more money than Pocket Pair knew what to do with, and while the hype has died down considerably, it still boasts a steady 70,000 to 100,000 concurrent players

.

While it is unlikely that subsequent games will reach these heights, more competition is always a good thing. And if Mizobe is right and more games are developed in the future, it will be interesting to see how they will evolve and differentiate themselves from the current method.
