Ghosts of Tsushima brings PlayStation trophies and friends to PC for the first time, making the barrier between console and PC more meaningless.

I'm too old to know any better. Back in the day, Xbox games were played on Xbox, PlayStation games were played on PlayStation, and on the rare occasion someone wanted to port those games to PC, it didn't work. It was a simple system, and it made sense. But now guess what: Ghost of Tsushima is the latest PlayStation exclusive to be ported to the PC, and it also involves the PlayStation.

Sony announced the system requirements for the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima earlier today. But the most impressive announcement to me is that the game will mark the debut of the new PlayStation overlay on the PC.

If you're anything like me, your game should already be running under a thick overlay quilt. But wait! Because your humble desktop will suddenly be included in Sony's "walled garden."

The PlayStation overlay will take over your PS5 profile, trophies, and friends list, and allow for cross-play in the "Legends" multiplayer mode of vs. Using an existing or new PS account, players can bother their console friends and play together while earning real PlayStation trophies.

Also, according to Sony, Steam/Epic achievements can be earned together.

Honestly, it's fantastic. Another chink in the impenetrable wall that once separated console and PC and each other. With PlayStation games (with the exception of "Your Name") now offered on PC as a matter of course, and Xbox boss Phil Spencer talking about releasing Microsoft exclusives on Sony's consoles and the possibility of bringing PC storefronts to Xbox It seems that exclusives, especially on the PC, are becoming more and more a thing of the past.

Ghost of Tsushima will be released on PC on May 16, available on Steam and Epic.
