Braid: Anniversary Edition will feature 40 "all-new or original-level alternative redesigns" and will be postponed to May.

Sixteen years after the release of the original "Blade," four years after the announcement of the remake, five months after the announcement of the remake's release date, and just 12 days before the release was finally set, the release of "Blade: Anniversary Edition" has been postponed. The good news is that it is only a short delay: instead of being released on April 30 as planned, it will now be released on May 14.

As for updates, Braid: Anniversary Edition will feature a new mix and variation of soundtracks, "hand-drawn graphics," smoother animations, and this is the kicker: Braid creator Jonathan Blow and 15+ hours of commentary by other members of the gaming industry, and so on, it's a big deal.

In addition to the release date being a bit far off, "But that's not all!" in a classic move, Blow also revealed that the Anniversary Edition will feature "a combination of 40 entirely new or original-level alternative designs":

although some of the puzzle mechanics became a bit too esoteric for my taste in the second half I liked Braid a lot when it was new: the great thing about puzzle games is that they tend to keep you playing regardless of your age.

That said, the original Braid is available on Steam, runs pretty well, and supports 4K resolution, so there's no weird distortion or unnaturalness on modern displays. It is also quite regularly available for less than $5. Pricing for the anniversary edition has not yet been announced.

Braid: The Anniversary Edition will be available on PC (storefront not yet announced, but Steam would be reasonable; Xbox One and Xbox Series X (and possibly Series S, although the announcement says only X) will be available a day later, on May 15. May 15.
