Season 2 of "Fallout" is set, and Deathclaw is here.

To my surprise, a second season of the TV series Fallout is in the works. Until yesterday, I thought a second season was a certainty - especially given the charming finale of the first season - but that was not the case: an April 15 report in The Wrap revealed that Prime Video has not yet purchased a second season.

Both Prime Video and Fallout X accounts confirmed the second season today, triggering an onslaught of Fallout-themed memes, with Variety reporting that executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy "can't wait to blow up the world again. I can't wait to blow it up," exclaimed showrunners Geneva Robertson Dworet and Graham Wagner, who added: "I can't wait to see it." Thanks to Jonah, Quilter, Bethesda, and Amazon for having the courage to create a show that seriously tackles all of the most serious issues in society these days, including cannibalism, incest, and jelly cakes.

Amazon MGM Studios boss Jennifer Salke also acknowledged that the response has been far more positive than expected. 'The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game, but so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations.'

No wonder there's another season: Amazon told Variety that the show is in the top three most-watched shows on Prime Video, with "The Lord of the Rings" in first place: along with I haven't seen it myself yet, but my reaction is that I'm not sure I'll ever see it. I haven't seen it myself yet, but the reaction has been more positive than I expected. Our own Jody writes, "This is the best 'Fallout' since 'New Vegas,'" and many others agree.

As for what will actually happen in Season 2, Wagner said earlier this week that Deathclaw did not appear in Season 1 because "we wanted to save something for Season 2. So it seems certain that Deathclaw will appear. Also, [Season 1 spoilers!]. Whatever the season 1 finale is, it will probably be set in Las Vegas/New Vegas.
