Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard responded to player complaints about slow or missing medals by saying that the game's reward system will be "overhauled" in the future, and that the awarding of medals for completed major orders will be faster and more reliable He stated that it should become.

Complaints about lost medals have been around for years. For example, Arrowhead Games CEO Johan Pilestedt addressed the topic in February, stating that the studio was able to "mitigate" the problem, but not completely solve it.

As a testament to the popularity of the game and the fact that medals generally do eventually arrive, players have been relatively patient and understanding about the whole matter, but complaints continue to accumulate on Reddit and the Helldivers Discord. This is a problem of which Arrowhead is well aware.

"The system is very slow and needs a serious overhaul," Twinbeard said earlier today on Discord (via GamesRadar) to one player who was missing over 100 medals."

"Medals are being rolled out, but very slowly.

"The problem is not so much that the system is slow as that it is not working correctly," he told another player.

Later that day, he posted a message on the HD2-Announcements channel more formally addressing the issue, and that medals are still being rolled out, and more importantly, hopefully putting an end to this problem once and for all He promised that major changes are on the way.

"Medals for two of the three latest major orders have been shipped. The last remaining batch will ship in 11 hours (if Hammertime plays its part, otherwise April 10 at 11 am CEST)."

"The system that handles these requests will be overhauled in the future because, frankly, it is as reliable as the solar clock at Malevelon Creek.

In a subsequent response, he clarified that the award system will be changed, not the medals themselves. He also stated that the delay in rewards was simply due to a "lagging system" and had nothing to do with the recently rekindled automaton invasion.

For now, if you're short on medals, you'll have to wait with your fingers crossed; Pilestedt suggested in February that a restart of the game might help things along, but it may not. I encountered the medal delay problem during my Helldiving days and was mildly concerned at first, but after waiting overnight it appeared as intended. Still, a proper fix would be welcome: Helldivers 2 is still posting monstrous numbers, and all stalwart defenders of managed democracy deserve the rewards they have earned.
