EA denies rumors that it has canceled the ongoing "Dead Space 2" remake.

After last year's well-received "Dead Space" remake, one might have expected EA to bring a team from developer Motive to work on the "Dead Space 2" remake. That's because EA announced this week that those leading the "Dead Space" remake are assembling a team to work on the "Battlefield" series.

Another team from Motive continues to work on the studio's Iron Man game, and no one is working on a Dead Space 2 remake unless it's a big secret.

According to Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb, EA and Motive had planned to remake Dead Space 2, but the project was cancelled due to poor sales of the first remake.

"They were working on Dead Space 2, but they're not working on it anymore. They were working on Dead Space 2, but they're not working on it anymore, because the first one didn't sell well.

EA denies Grubb's claim that a remake of Dead Space 2 was never planned, was cancelled, or was cancelled due to poor sales of Dead Space 1, without specifying exactly what is untrue about that claim.

"We have not been able to find the information that is relevant to the claim.

"We don't usually comment on rumors, but this story has no credibility," an EA spokesperson told IGN.

Grubb stands by this information. Dead Space 2 was definitely planned. It even had a codename." And we're not making it now."

EA's publicist said.

I don't have inside information on what EA is planning or had planned, but I think it's safe to say that they at least considered the possibility of remaking "Dead Space 2" if the first remake went well. That thought would have been inevitable. How much thought needs to be given to doing something before its "being worked on" might be something to discuss here.

According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Motive was considering launching a new Dead Space project, but it "was not a Dead Space 2 remake." He reported that a "small team" at the studio had actually been working on an idea for a new Dead Space game, but it never came to fruition and they have been working on something else for almost a year.

We do not have definitive numbers on the success or otherwise of the remake. The Dead Space remake was mentioned only once during EA's Q3 2023 earnings call shortly after its release, with EA CEO Andrew Wilson calling it "highly acclaimed by fans and critics, a new benchmark for remakes, and even one of the best games ever made! He stated that "it is. No mention of the remake was made in the transcript of EA's subsequent earnings call.

On Steam, the remake of Dead Space has received over 33,000 user reviews, with an average rating of "very positive"; the PC version is also available from the Epic Games Store and the EA App, with Xbox and PlayStation console versions are also available.
