Six years after "Kingdom Come Deliverance," War Horse Studios announces new work next week

Warhorse Studios, creators of 2018's Kingdom Come Deliverance, will announce their next project on April 18. The announcement of the impending announcement has no further details, just an image of a horse apparently ready for war and a figure sitting astride it. I assume that this announcement is for a sequel.

A sequel makes sense, at least from a business standpoint: Kingdom Come Deliverance had a sizable following and was an ambitious RPG, albeit controversial at launch due to its difficulty and bugs Warhorse Studios claims to have sold 6 million copies. (Warhorse is now a branch of Plaion, itself a branch of the Embracer Group. With the popularity of challenging RPGs like "Baldur's Gate 3" and "Dragon's Dogma 2," Warhorse's unrelenting approach to medieval survival will likely be well-received.

From then to now, Deliverance was a gorgeous game. I'm no historian, but the description of the landscape of 15th century Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) was truly impressive. The player's choices had serious consequences for the fate of the hero, an ordinary man, and the survival system was well implemented, if a bit harsh. The approach to swordsmanship was also unusually authentic. Surprisingly, the game was ported to Nintendo Switch earlier this month.

"One of the most satisfying and rewarding role-playing experiences I've enjoyed on PC for some time," wrote Andy Kelly in his review of "Kingdom Come Deliverance," while also noting performance issues, which It appears that this has since been remedied.

The announcement will be made on YouTube and Twitch on Thursday, April 18 at 8 pm CEST / 2 pm EDT / 11 am PT / 7 pm BST / 3 am AEST.
