Deep Rock Galactic is rolling out the ability to play old seasons

The cooperative shooter Deep Rock Galactic will soon allow players to pull their old seasonal stuff out of the closet. That means that Deep Rock's first four rounds of thematic additions will be available as their own game modes, along with a separate Vanilla module that can spit out each season's events and game modes.

As part of this, each season's unlock trees, performance paths and cosmetic trees will once again be distributed as part of their respective season play modes. If you have previously played that season, it will be returned to its original position on the tree.

This is an approach that more and more time-limited experience live-service games are adopting over time: with the exception, of course, of "Destiny 2," a leader in the genre, which routinely keeps its game installations to a reasonable size by large chunks are removed.

Deep Rock Galactic, a cooperative shooter about sci-fi dwarf miners on a funky-shaped asteroid, has had serious staying power since its 2018 release; its two-year Early Access ends in 2020, with Season 5 set for this June Release: the success of Deep Rock Galactic has led developer Ghost Ship to establish a publishing division, Ghost Ship Games, which will be responsible for the release of the game's first season, which will be released in June of this year.

A Season Q&A can be found on Steam, and details of Season 5 of Deep Rock Galactic will be announced during a livestream on April 25, along with details of the cooperative roguelike spin-off Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, which will enter Early Access later this year. and is expected to go into Early Access later this year.
