During the big Black Friday sale, this Acer Predator Helios 16 gaming laptop dropped to under $1,800, which we thought was a great deal at the time. Now it's even cheaper, under $1,800 at B&H Photo. Phew.

It's a bit ironic, but the fact that such a powerful RTX 4080 notebook is cheaper than the Black Friday price is quite gratifying; the RTX 4090 is nominally more powerful, but it's hotter, more power hungry, and doesn't necessarily offer better gaming performance.

With 32GB of memory and a 24-core, 32-thread CPU, the entire spec matches the heart of the RTX 4080 graphics chip.

And then there's the screen. It may not be as beautiful as the stunning mini LED screen of the Predator Helios 16 we reviewed, but it is still a beautiful 16" IPS panel with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a peak brightness of 500 nits.

This is a high-end gaming laptop at a price we would normally expect to see before or after a significant sales event, so it is worth a look if you are looking for a speedy mobile gaming experience.
