Lethal Company's "v50" update is scarier to run uphill than the new evil butler and wailing mechs!

Version 50, Lethal Company's first major update, is now playable in beta, and players are discovering just how bad treasure hunting in space can be with deadly new monsters and significant nerfs to popular movement mechanics.

Solo's developer, Zeekerss, has not released official patch notes, but has stated that the update is not yet fully complete. They also said that the redesigned speed of movement up and down hills, which has some players in a frenzy, will be more gradual in the next update. However, the evil butler and the missile-launching mech seem to be working almost exactly as intended.

Version 50 will feature three new moons: Adamance, Artifice, and Embryon. According to several players, Adamance's mountainous landscape and brutal monsters are incompatible with the much slower speed of running up the slopes. Says Decent-Start-1536, "The description says medium-sized omnivores inhabit the area, but I don't think the forest giants are medium-sized." 'Plus, it could be very difficult to escape from them due to the size of the map."

Many do not like the new butler's enemies either. He targets lone players who leave the group and acts just as ruthlessly when playing alone. Some players also see some tweaks to equally nasty enemies, such as the jester, as Zeekerss complete disregard for solo players. However, given that it is still in beta, it is too early to assume that.

The number one complaint seems to be that moving uphill now feels like wading through mud. This is an indirect buff to all the horrible things that follow you to your boat, and players, especially those who have resorted to sliding down slopes for shortcuts, are not happy about this. Some players also suspect that there is something wrong or intentionally mean-spirited about the boulders appearing on the map and blocking the way to go, making the crossing the most difficult ever. [Psychologically, they find that the conveniences are much less than the inconveniences, so they feel that this move change is really bad overall."

No word yet on when the rest of version 50 will be available or whether there will be minor updates in the meantime; Zeekerss said in February that he hopes to release more substantial updates that will surprise players. They said, "We want the Lethal Company content update to feel like we've snuck into an alien zoo and freed all the animals."
