The beta version of Frostpunk 2 will be released in the coming weeks and will be available April 15-22 to anyone who pre-ordered the Digital Delxue Edition.

Frostpunk 2 will revisit the same setting as its predecessor about 30 years later, after humanity has survived the horrific conditions that occurred in the previous game for some time and has transitioned society to oil rather than Frostpunk's coal-based technology. [The game takes place 30 years after the apocalyptic blizzard that occurred in Frostpunk. The Earth is still overwhelmed by a climate of never-ending frost and severe ice. You play as the leader of a resource-intensive metropolis whose expansion and civil strife have become an inevitable reality. We've been impressed by teaser videos for Frostpunk 2 for years, and last year we noted how much bigger the metropolis would be than the first game.

This beta period comes about two months before the game's official release in July and focuses more on the sandbox mode than on the survival campaign, which many consider the main focus of Frostpunk 2.

Frostpunk 2 can be found on Epic, GOG, and Steam.

11 Bit Studios previously posted the minimum and recommended system requirements for the beta, but noted that they are "subject to change before the game's full release."
