As reported by GamesRadar, Sean Murray, head of Hello Games, celebrated on Twitter that "No Man's Sky" has received a 78% positive "All Reviews" rating on Steam.

"Guys, we just ticked 78% positive on All Reviews," Murray wrote.

"In 2021, we took five years to reach almost positive (70%). Mathematically, each point is much harder to achieve than the previous one.

This insight into the lifetime evolution of a game's Steam review score is fascinating to me: eight years and nearly 224,000 reviews later, the needle is hard to move for Hello Games and "No Man's Sky".

While an 80% score would be a symbolic victory for the once disgraced space sim and its developers, it is not as existentially important to Hello Games as it might be to other developers on Steam. "No Man's Sky" and its redemption arc are fairly well known to gamers at this point, and the games are already selling very well. For more obscure developers, positive reviews and wishlists are key indicators of sales, and algorithmic discovery is necessary to cut through the cacophony of new releases on the platform.

Here's hoping the studio's follow-up, Light No Fire, is a shortcut to accolades. Murray seems to be riding on a reputation for making grandiose claims with its upcoming "Earth-sized" RPG, but as PCG Executive Editor Tyler Wilde points out, a cooler, calmer Murray would say, "Guys, we're making something normal this time." . we were really hoping, or expecting, to see a lot more of the same.
