"Baldur's Gate 3" is one of the few RPGs that offers a wide variety of evil options, and my first playthrough was almost entirely devoted to heroic deeds. However, as of now, I am a complete scumbag, so the news that Larian is working on an even more evil ending is music to my ears.
Speaking to IGN, CEO Swen Vincke revealed some of the plans the studio has in place before saying goodbye to the Forgotten Realms.
"They are working on an evil ending right now. '"
Vincke said. It's really evil. So the evil players will be happy with that."At the end of Baldur's Gate 3, you can already screw everyone over with your actions and usher in the dark ages. And you can spend most of the game indulging your character's worst impulses--especially if you're playing as the Dark Urge and paying too much attention to the voices in your head. But there is no such thing as too much of a bad thing!
These new endings and the planned mod support are welcome additions, but a bit bittersweet given that Larian is about to move on to something new; Vincke has been warming to the idea of DLC for some time, but at GDC the time to work on something else Vincke announced that the time had come to work on something else. We're a company with big ideas," he said. We are not a company built to make DLC or expansions.
That said, no one could blame Larian for not supporting RPGs; since its launch in August, the game has been improved and expanded by the team over and over again, and was already a truly massive game that could not be fully explored in a single playthrough. And with mod support now in place, the community will be able to keep the game alive long after Larian has left it.
In the meantime, it's a good time to think about rolling the dreaded bastard.
