Not since "Elden Rings" has a game had a player been so riddled with L's as in "Dragon's Dogma 2." Unless a pawn (the game's clumsy NPC party member) is killed, players are only thinking of themselves when a griffin swoops in for a surprise boss fight.

In fact, most of the clips are about Griffin, the biggest scum of Dragon's Dogma 2. They don't care what quests you are on, what state your party is in, or how much time you have spent with your current pawns. They will always find you at the most inconvenient time.

I have fought griffins. They are not particularly scary when everything is under control. They even fly away when they are low on energy. But like these players, they have never been dive bombed while riding peacefully in an ox cart:

Don't worry, Griffins don't care if you are in an ox cart or not. They will find you no matter what.

And the elevator.

Even these clawed heat-seeking missiles that, if you're lucky, will take you on a ride and take you places you've never been. It's almost like fast travel, except you never know when you're going to die and it's not particularly fast. But hey, you don't have to spend a cent on fast travel items.

In this clip, which currently has over 3 million views on TikTok, the player is "saved" from falling off the griffin by the pawn Frank. However, if you rewind the tape, there is no doubt that Frank's release of the explosive arrow is what caused them to fall in the first place. No one is fooled, Frank!

This Maya is an actual hero and was not just doing it for the clip. (I'm not going to interrogate why Maya's minimap icon magically teleports under Miss Mikkaa as she falls.)

Believe it or not, griffins are mortal and can be killed. They tend to run away from a fight, but not if they are already on your back. The trick is to defeat a griffin without taking yourself down at the same time.

If you can get them down to the water, "The Brine" will not be able to kill your arisen and you will be the only one crawling up. Note, however, that the pawns will die.

The only good thing I can say about griffins is that they do not infect your pawns with dragon sprigs. In other words, it is next to the worst thing that could happen in Dragon's Dogma 2, not the worst thing that could happen in Dragon's Dogma 2. But since dragons don't think about pranks all day long like griffins do, in my eyes they are the biggest douche in Dragon's Dogma 2.
