Arrowhead asks Helldivers 2 players to temporarily stop using the most destructive weapon ever: snowballs!

War is hell, and the depravity and corruption of its participants only accelerates as humanity invents newer, more spectacular, and more terrifying weapons to carry it out. Hell Divers 2, with its breakers, dominators, and ready-men, is a case in point. But even Super Earth has its limits. Arrowhead is now calling on every Helldiver to refrain from using the game's most unintentionally destructive weapon, the snowball.

In a post to the Helldivers 2 Discord earlier today, Arrowhead community leader Katherine Baskin "Avoid snowballs!" and urged the troops to do so. It is not militarily lethal, but technically lethal. It turns out that throwing snowballs at each other, for reasons unknown, interferes with people's games.

"We realize that picking up a snowball and throwing it crashes," Baskin wrote.

Frankly, it would not be a major blow to the battlefield. The snowballs in "Helldiver 2" seem to be lethal to the game, but they don't do much to automatons and terminids. Rather, they are a way to kill time and energy on snowy planets like Heath and Vandalon IV.

To date, most players who have reported this bug have been PS5 players, as far as I can tell, but there are scattered reports of PC players also encountering the hard crash after throwing a snowball or two. On our platform of choice, the crashes at least seem to be less frequent.

After all, this will probably be fixed soon. The last Helldivers 2 patch, released earlier this week, fixed other crash-inducing bugs related to the game's arc weapons and Tesla Tower strategy. It is utterly infuriating to be forced out of the game and lose all of your progress and any small items you have acquired. On the contrary, it's worse: it's undemocratic.
