Broken Road," a mix of Mad Max, Disco Elysium, and Baldur's Gate, will be released in April after a sudden five-month delay last year.

The release date for the Australian philosophy RPG Broken Roads has been set. After a long delay, the game will be released on April 10 of this year. As far as I know, this date has nothing to do with Australia, except that it is the birthday of loan-baller Steve "Biscuit" Glasson. So perhaps it was timed to coincide with that date.

Back in the day, Broken Road was one of the most anticipated games of 2023 and was supposed to fall on November 14 of that year. However, a last minute postponement pushed it to 2024, and the game was put on hold.

As a wise man once said, "The delay is only for a little while. So we cannot be angry about this postponement. Still, I am strongly intrigued by the mix of Broken Road's lofty philosophy and unique anti-Nordic post-apocalypse. It felt like the CRPG renaissance of the last few years was put on hold.

As we move through the wilderness and engage in CRPG shenanigans, we are asked to choose toward four different philosophical poles: nihilism, utilitarianism, humanism, and Machiavellianism. It sounds like a blend of "Mad Max," "Disco Elysium," and "Baldur's Gate," which coincidentally, now that I think about it, may be what I want most in the world.

So hopefully this postponement will allow the developers at Drop Bear Bytes to get everything in order for an April release. Game director Craig Ritchie at least thinks so: "More polish, more voice acting, over 400,000 words of dialogue and over 150,000 end game combinations. I hope everyone has a great time."

If you want to check out Broken Roads ahead of its release, you can find it on Steam.
