A Bold New Era of "Hell Diver 2" Lightning Strike Warfare, Arc Thrower Crashes and Short-Circuits the Game

Democracy giveth, democracy taketh away - though maybe not where the censors of the Super Earth Ministry of Truth can hear. Today's Battle of Helldivers 2 fixed the bug-ridden planet liberation ticker, dispatched troops to confront a new flying bug threat, and ended the dissidents. In short, don't use your lightning weapons and ploys until another patch hits, because it might crash the game. After the release of the Helldivers 2 patch yesterday to address patrol spawns, mech glitches, and friend request issues, players reported a rash of crashes and game locks. Fortunately, according to an announcement made by Arrowhead's community manager on the Helldivers 2 Discord, the developers have already identified the problem. A fix is already in the works and will be released early next week, but until then players are advised to avoid using arc throwers, arc shotguns, and tesla towers. The electric weapons technology is apparently causing the game to freeze if you are playing in a session where they are being fired.

Arc Throwers are getting a bit of a boost thanks to the latest Helldivers 2 warbonds, so it is unfortunate timing for arc weapons to bug out. The Arc Thrower has always been effective, but like many of the tools at the Helldiver's disposal, the chain lightning fired by this weapon was dangerous to bring into the field, as it was perfectly content to send allies into the crossfire. The arc-themed Cutting Edge Warbond armor set and a new passive perk that reduces damage taken from arc discharges by 95% changed this situation, and while 5% damage isn't nothing, it's enough to lead a squad of electric demigods into the fray. If it was enough to justify the player's decision, the player was willing to cut it down. With so much zapping going on, it would be a shame if something were to break the fun of the lightning gun. Fortunately, a fix has already been released, and it looks like we won't have to wait too long before we can bring arc weapons to the planet again.
