Path of Exile 2 beta delayed from June "until the end of the year".

There was a lot of interesting news today regarding Path of Exile 2. For example, the combat has been reworked with new controls, and it was announced that they will stick to an "ethical free-to-play" model. However, there is also some not-so-happy news that adds fuel to the fire. The beta, previously announced for June 7, will not take place until later this year.

Grinding Gear Games announced the news in a tweet, saying, "We thought the game content would be ready in time, but underestimated the time it would take to polish the gameplay to a level we were happy with. We still intend to alpha test the game in June, but we're going to push the beta back to the end of the year.

PC Gamer contributor Dominic Tarason played a demo of Path of Exile 2 at a press event and came back with a lot of positive feedback. For example, here's what he had to say: "From playing only the first of the six acts (the later acts seem to be even more fantastic), the variety of environments surpasses Diablo 4's similar overworld." He also noted several points that suggest why the beta was delayed, calling the demo build "a bit crash-prone" and noting persistent stutters.

Grinding Gear Games ended its announcement of the beta's postponement by saying, "We don't have an exact date yet, but it should be at the end of the year."
