General
Bread is now available in InXile's steampunk RPG.

I must confess that I had completely forgotten about inXile Entertainment's "Clockwork Revolution," a first-person immersive sim that looks exactly like "BioShock Infinite" that was announced in June 2023. That's because the last we heard about this game was in June 2023.

It was a Twitter user who triggered this reminder, after inXile tweeted about the lawlessness of Leap Day (February 29, which, as the old nursery rhyme goes, comes only once in four), and took the opportunity to ask for an update on the game. inXile, somewhat unsurprisingly, complied. Pan.

Why bread? What does it mean? How is bread contextualized in the steampunk canon?" the sharp minds at GamesRadar have figured it out: it's not bread, it's crumbs, an age-old metaphor for the small trail of clues that slowly but surely lead to the resolution of mysteries large and small.

Admittedly, it is a bit confusing, but one thing is certain: bread in video games has progressed over the years. [Unfortunately, the footprint of this particular breadcrumb was very short, only one tweet, and nothing more interesting than a gentle reminder that "yes, the Clockwork Revolution is still happening." Nevertheless, it's not the worst idea, considering that I had completely forgotten about it, as mentioned above. I will assume that I am not alone in this regard.

It is worth noting, however, that this is not the only marketing for Clockwork Revolution: there is also an insight into inXile's creative process published in December 2023, which has nothing to do with bread as far as I know:

Conclusion : I don't know what's going on at inXile these days, but they're still working on Clockwork Revolution, and that's good enough for me; it's hard to miss the "BioShock Infinite" vibe, but project director Chad Moore is "a very good friend of mine, and I'm very happy to have him on board." Clockwork Revolution" is "the lovechild of 'Arcanum' and 'Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines,'" he said a few weeks after it was revealed, and you better believe this is the game I want to play. (Moore worked on both of these games, so of course he knows.)

Incidentally, Clockwork Revolution has no release date at the moment, but you can wishlist it on Steam.
