Fallout" TV show producer says it's like "Fallout 5

Previous attempts to adapt "Fallout" into a movie seem to have stalled because Bethesda, the current rights holder, is not interested in a movie or TV show that retells the story the game has already told. showrunners of the TV show, which will air on Amazon Prime The showrunners got around that by pitching something new, they said in an interview with Total Film. Executive producer Jonathan Nolan said, "From our first conversation with Todd [Howard], we were most excited about the original storyline."

The trailer is filled with images that have been used and reused in the game, from vault dwellers stepping into sunlight to Brotherhood of Steel in power armor and even Dogmeat, but Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan and others Along with the new characters they play, they tell a new story. Nolan compares the film to The Dark Knight, a film he co-wrote with his brother Christopher Nolan.

"In my career, 'Fallout' is the closest to the work I've done on the Batman adaptation," he said, "because there is no canonical version of the Batman universe, so I'm free to create my own."

Hopefully the "Fallout" series will accomplish the same trick as the Batman films. Nolan continued, "Each game is a separate story, a different city, a different protagonist, within the same mythology. Our series is as much about the game as it is about the game. I don't want to sound presumptuous, but it's kind of like a non-interactive version of Fallout 5."

The TV adaptation of "Fallout" follows on the heels of such well-received video game adaptations as "Castlevania," "Arcane" and "The Last of Us." The bar for TV shows based on video games was certainly low a few years ago. As co-showrunner Graham Wagner says, "Now there's an expectation that, 'No, it's actually going to be great:' I've seen some good productions. ' In a perverse way, I think if there had been more snobbism, we could have been the first!"

"I'm not sure how much I would have liked to have been first.

"Fallout" will be released on Prime Video on April 12.
