Now that Steam can officially hide your mountain of weird sex games, you can finally accept your mom's friend request.

Good news for those of you who have spent the last six years in a cold sweat with veins pulsing in your foreheads as your hands clutch at the buy button on the Steam page for Hentai Backend Developer 4.

We first caught word last November that Steam was adding a "Mark as Private" option to the library, and Valve released a beta version of the feature in December. The mechanics are simple: right-click on a game in the library, go to the "Manage" menu, and click "Mark as Private" (not "Hide this game"). Now you can suddenly accept a pending friend request from your local pastor without fear.

While the obvious headline is that you can now hide your gaming software under your mattress, this update actually comes as part of a series of new features added to Steam's purchasing experience. For example, you can now gift games to multiple friends at once, and the shopping cart now follows you across devices. It is also possible to mark a game as a private game on the spot, right where it was purchased. This is useful if you are later overcome with emotion and forget to mark it.

If, like me, you share your Steam library using Steam's Family Sharing feature, you may be wondering if keeping games private will affect that. After some testing, I can confirm that it does. Games that I made private in my library did not show up in the game lists of the people I shared them with. Private games are yours and yours alone. And one day you will have to justify your purchases, God forbid.

Frankly, it's a bit puzzling that this hasn't been the way Steam has worked since they started allowing adult games six years ago. Perhaps Valve is more easygoing and liberal than I previously thought, but I would have expected that the idea that they should start selling pornographic games would soon be followed by the idea that they should be able to hide their games properly.

Anyway, here's a list of the best sex games to play in 2024. If you're interested, you should.
