A film adaptation of "Watch Dogs" may be in the works.

Ubisoft was making noises about a Watch Dogs movie, no exaggeration, even before the first game was released in 2014. Now, more than a decade later and with the release of three games in the series, a Watch Dogs movie may actually be in the works.

Now it appears that "Talk to Me" star Sophie Wilde has joined the project, and French director Mathieu Turi will direct the script by Christie Leblanc. Director Turi has previously worked on the horror film "Hostile. Screenwriter LeBlanc's main credits include the Netflix sci-fi horror drama "Oxygen. The film is being produced via New Regency, the same company that helped complete the film Assassin's Creed.

This information comes from a report by Deadline, which details the studio and producers, as well as the director and lead actor choices.

Does this mean that an actual movie based on Watch Dogs will be released? There are a small number of video game movie projects that get to this stage and never see the light of day, and even then it can take many more years. If you have high hopes for this film, don't expect it until 2026.

The real problem here may be that "Watch Dogs" may be fascinating, but it is the story that holds it together, and "Watch Dogs" is left with no central story: two are set in the US, one in the UK, and the lead actress, Sophie Wilde is Australian.

Still, everyone hopes that the curse of game adaptations will be broken, and no one likes to see something that creative people have worked so hard to make turn out to be a bad movie. I wish this film the best.
