Hellbreach: Vegas, the CoD zombie-inspired wave survival shooter, has finally launched in Early Access after tons of previews and playtesting.

The latest Call of Duty title has a zombie mode, but it's not quite the CoD Zombies you played on a broken CRT from a sweaty couch in your dorm rec room, but it's a little different from the once hardcore, now casual old millennials like me, killing time and talking with friends. It's a super niche genre, perfect for once hardcore, now casual old millennials like me to pass the time and talk about it with friends.

And that's where "Hellbreech" comes in: Vegas. It's an almost boomer shooter-esque answer to the classic "CoD Zombies"-esque hole in the market. It perfectly replicates the cramped, frantic wave shooter gameplay I remember, but with its own unique weaponry and an aesthetic that blends Nordic demon enemies with a flashy Vegas setting, the latter blending nicely with the game mechanics of gambling with guns and perks.

My favorite twist is definitely Hellbreach: a sort of PvEvP gun game mode in Vegas. The original Counter-Strike/CoD staple was to climb a set weapon ladder by killing other players, and the first to climb to the end was the winner; in Hellbreach you kill 10 zombies per weapon, making it one of my favorite FPS multiplayer modes! Hellbreach is like a competitive co-op adaptation of one of my favorite FPS multiplayer modes: 10 zombies per weapon.

Also priced at $10, Hellbreach is already a steal in Early Access, and more maps, modes, and guns will be added; until March 22, the game will be discounted by $1 as part of a launch campaign, making it a great opportunity to jump into the 2011 FPS time capsule with friends! You can check out Hellbreach: Vegas on Steam.
