Your kickflip was the reason why other players kept crashing in Destiny 2.

Update: Destiny 2's 7.3.5.1 update fixes an issue that was causing the game client to crash when players tried to perform rapid boosts and other tricks, so now you can kickflip all you want Bungie According to a help Twitter post, maintenance is still ongoing and downtime has been extended.

Original Story Destiny 2 players have been experiencing an increasing number of crashes over the last week, and it looks like all fingers are pointed at the new skimmer, but unfortunately, there's also an unwitting accomplice: you.

Yesterday, Destiny Bulletin issued a warning to all those enjoying Destiny 2's new hoverboard "skimmer". 'Entering a new loading zone while grinding with the skimmer (by repeatedly hitting the left and right boosts) may crash the game for those in the previous loading zone. Try not to use the skimmer when entering a new loading zone."

One YouTuber, Cheese Forever, decided to test this theory himself. In the video, he explains how he crashed another player, perhaps accidentally, by hitting a series of side boosts while using the skimmer. Doing odd tricks with the skimmer while moving through the loading zone is very likely to crash the remaining players in the previous area; Cheese Forever's final message is simple: if you are moving through the loading zone, you can't use the skimmer to skim the loading zone, and you will crash the remaining players in the previous area.

Other players are also trying to spread the killer skimmer message. One Redditor explained in a thread, "It kinda sucks right now because other people's skimmers could be causing the problem. Also, crashes are more likely to occur when racing in public areas, while crashes are much less likely in private areas and activities such as the Disciple's Oath and the Grass Vault."

But it's not all bad news. If you found yourself scratching your head late last week and wondering where it all went wrong, you are not alone. One player was overjoyed at the prospect that he wasn't the only one experiencing problems: "I've been making predictions all week and now I know why I'm crashing after Rainbow Road. Hopefully, everything should be resolved shortly with the next patch.

Honestly, I wouldn't bet against every player putting down a skimmer in the name of server solidarity just because it's a hoverboard and cooler than the old Sparrow. If I were faced with this dilemma, I would do the honorable thing of refraining from using the skimmer while crossing the zone, but honestly, I don't think my self-control is that strong.
