General
This $2,945 CLX gaming rig is probably the best way to buy an RTX 4090 right now.

Nvidia's beastly RTX 4090 has steadfastly held the title of the world's fastest GPU for over a year. Perhaps that's why it is trading at around $2,000, well above its official list price of $1,599.

Therefore, it is definitely best to purchase the entire PC; Newegg's CLX SET gaming desktop retails for $2,945.

Along with the all-important Nvidia RTX 4090, it has an Intel Core i7 13700KF CPU. This is an older chip, but it checks out.

In fact, Intel's "newer" 14th generation CPU is really just a rebadge, not new silicon. And with eight performance cores and eight Efficient cores, the 13700KF is subjectively indistinguishable from the Core i9 14900K in terms of gaming performance. You won't be able to feel the difference.

The 4090 and 13700KF can add 32GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB NVMe drive, and a 4TB magnetic drive. Overall, 5 TB of storage is a good price point, but this is a fairly obvious part of the cost savings. Only 1TB of fast SSD storage seems a bit stingy for a $3K PC.

Anyway, further details include water cooling for the CPU, built-in Wi-Fi, and even a keyboard and mouse. As for the motherboard, no specific model is guaranteed, but it will at least be a Z690 board, so if you like overclocking, you can take full advantage of the unlocked Intel CPU multiplier.

Also, the power supply is a 1,000W unit, enough to drive the monster RTX 4090. Housed in a full tower case, you can gaze at your hard-earned hardware in all its RGB glory.
