General
Enshrouded's new 2024 roadmap includes many of the features players have been clamoring for.

The co-op survival RPG "Enshrouded" has over 2 million players plunging into its massive fantasy world, building elaborate bases, fighting monsters, ...... No, to be honest, it got off to a great start in Early Access, mainly by building elaborate bases.

While player feedback has been almost entirely positive, there have been some requests (thousands of requests, to be exact) for how the game could be improved, and many of those requests will likely be answered this year.

Developer Keen Games today posted a roadmap for Enshrouded 2024. While many of these features may prove to be "more difficult than we anticipated," and the studio has stated that they "hope to keep [players] interested without over-promising our ability to deliver," the roadmap still looks very promising.

First, the roadmap includes "Water!" but there is a reason for this exclamation point. Despite the fact that the world is filled with mountains, hills, and valleys, there are no rivers, lakes, or even ponds. The base would be much more cozy if there were a babbling brook or a picturesque lake nearby; there is plenty of fog in Enshrouded's world, but no rain, lightning, or thunder.

The world can feel a bit empty and lonely - the only NPCs in Enshrouded just stand there in your base. That too will be fixed: NPCs will be added to towns, and apparently the residents of those towns will have pets. As someone who is based in an existing building, the idea of moving to a town where people live is even more appealing. (Also, can I have a pet?) Another way to make the world a little more alive would be to add enemy patrols, so the bad guys would no longer be found only in towns and camps. [animal husbandry, new bosses and enemies, musical instruments, and round doors for players who build hobbit huts instead of castles. On the technical side, Keen has Steam Deck support (yay!) ), custom server configurations, and a ping system that will allow players to communicate more easily.

The full roadmap is here; Keen Games asks that we keep in mind that it is only a roadmap: "[The roadmap] will change as we develop the game and it proves harder (or easier!) to implement than we originally thought. It will change as things turn out to be more difficult (or easier!) to implement.
