Updating Minecraft on the Xbox app could accidentally erase all worlds, so Microsoft is urging caution.

Do not download the latest update for "Minecraft" from the Xbox app for PC.

A recent Microsoft blog revealed a strange issue with the Xbox app for PC. It recommends running the Gaming Services Repair Tool for PC on the Xbox app before downloading the latest Minecraft update. Running it will update Gaming Services to version 19.87.13001.0 and fix the lost world issue. Here's how to run the tool:

Minecraft's latest update adds some useful changes and great new mobs, so it's well worth downloading with caution. Pet wolves will be safer than ever, as their health will double from 20 hearts to 40 hearts. However, already-tamed wolves will need to be fed to increase their strength to the new maximum, so be sure to look for bones before setting out on your adventure.

There will also be a new mob called Bogdo. This creepy-sounding enemy is a new variant of the skeleton that spawns in the swamp and mangrove biomes. It looks scary because it shoots poison arrows, but the firing interval is slower, 3.5 seconds instead of 2 seconds. It is also easier to defeat because it has only 16 hearts instead of 20.

There is no guarantee of losing the world, but it is definitely not worth the risk. I have been through that ordeal before and I can assure you that I would not want to repeat it.

I remember that day well. The sun was shining (maybe), the birds were chirping (maybe), and I was sitting at my computer, ready to fire up Minecraft and continue working on my automated sorting system. I had spent hours digging deep into the mountains with makeshift water pipes, hoppers, and tons of red stone dust for a space where I could auto-sort all the items, but first I had to transfer my Mojang account to a Microsoft one.

If I could turn back the clock and stop myself from integrating my Minecraft account, I would. In that short time, I lost every world I had worked on, including the "auto-sorting system" that I had painstakingly built over the course of a year. I know it was only a world, but it was very cool and I was very proud of not only building it in Survival, but also finding every item in the game. So please don't make the same mistake I did and make sure everything is in order before you download the next Minecraft update.
