Not only can you play "Rainbow Six Siege" for free for the next week, but if you like it, you can keep it for $4.

It's already been two days since Rainbow Six Siege, the multiplayer version of Ubisoft's long-running tactical shooter series, began its free week. The free week runs through Thursday, March 21, and you can keep the game for just $4 (85% off) through Wednesday. [But according to PCG's multiplayer FPS expert Morgan Park, "Siege" is better than ever. Changes that favor disadvantaged attackers, tastefully nerf environmental destruction to limit defenders peeking through bullet holes, and streamline the still fairly complex weapon attachment system all make for a game that is still lean, exciting, and surprisingly unique years after its release and still a lean, exciting, and surprisingly unique game even a few years after its release.

It also looks like "Siege" is here to stay for a while yet. The director recently threw shade at a competing multiplayer FPS while denying speculation about "Siege 2" or any other form of sequel: "I'm not going to name names, but it's quite common for games to go through sequels and drop the ball completely. I assumed Alexander Karpazis was referring to Overwatch 2 here, but the rest of the team quickly jumped to Counter-Strike 2.
