The author of Stardew Valley has released a list of over 1000 mods that are compatible with today's 1.6 patch.

Stardew Valley's 1.6 update will be released today (Pacific Standard Time), but since Eric "ConcernedApe" Baron would not give a specific time, I was prepared to spend most of the day staring aimlessly at the Steam page, waiting for some sign I was prepared to spend most of my day staring blankly at the Steam page, waiting for some sign. But now, thanks to the intimidatingly long list, I can instead pass the time sifting through all the compatible mods.

It almost went without saying that because of the fundamental changes made to the Stardew Valley code in 1.6, multiple mods would be broken unless they were updated to be compatible with the latest version. This short-term pain is a legitimate trade-off for the exciting update that is 1.6. However, it appears that most of the problems have already been resolved, as Barone tweeted an extensive list describing which mods are compatible with 1.6 and which are broken.

"To those using mods: we've also added a public branch on Steam to allow you to use 1.5.6 as is, and we encourage you to try 1.6 without mods, but it's up to you."

There are hundreds of mods and content packs to choose from this list. Many of the great Stardew farm staples are present, such as the Schedule Viewer, which I love to use to keep an eye on other villagers, and Chests Anywhere, my favorite little chest that allows me to access my vaults from anywhere on the map. Sadly, however, not all of them were successful; Cantorsdust's "All Crops, All Seasons" mod allowed me to create a mega-farm that could grow any crop at the same time, but it is not currently maintained. So if you are jumping into 1.6, remove this mod and replace it with Crops Anytime Anywhere instead.

While checking the mod list for broken mods, I noticed a strange add-on that I had never seen before. Even if it is about carpet bombing cows.

Barone also gave us a vague hint as to when we can expect an update in his reply to this tweet In response to one question from a player that we all want to know, Barone said that the 1.6 release is "in the day [PST]. But I'm still going to be glued to the screen in case he changes his mind.
