The "Double Trouble" hacking event in "Overwatch 2" is almost over.

Blizzard is attempting to make small changes to the Overwatch 2 format in a series of short-lived Hacked Events. According to a Blizzard blog post earlier this year, this is an effective way to "quickly understand what (players) like and potentially implement changes to improve gameplay."

The last event introduced faster respawn times, payload speeds, and match start times. I was not a big fan of most of these changes, but unlike the latest event, "Double Trouble," they did not make a real difference to my game.

Just opening Overwatch 2 after a long day and seeing the Quick Play icon turn purple is disheartening enough, but knowing that this is part of a hacked event, the one-hero limit in role queue and open queue has been removed and teams can now play the same support or 2 DPS heroes can now play.

Double Trouble only runs for 24 hours, but I can assure you that in the short time I experienced this event, it was probably for the best. Facing a team of two Merci and two Farah is a tiresome ordeal, and having to lock in and work twice as hard to counter the strange duo that emerges from the enemy spawn takes all the fun out of what should be a calm, quick-play game. At one point, I thought I was hallucinating as two moiras chased me down a snowy road in a Nepalese village, fading in and out and poking me with damage orbs.

I was not entirely blameless, however, and I may have doubled up with my teammates for a few matches. On various occasions, I used two Anas, two Soldier 76s, and occasionally two Mercy. Having two of the same heroes makes a huge difference, and with the right choice of heroes, can completely shake up a match.

Double trouble does not do much harm (aside from the psychological damage of dealing with two Moira), but it would have been nice if the hacking event had just been added to the arcade instead of taking over Quick Play. Having to choose between playing for your life in competitive or watching the double in a less stressful mode is a choice I don't want to have to make again.
