The 1.6 update for Stardew Valley is finally available.

BaroneWatch 2024 has concluded: the Stardew Valley 1.6 update has been released, finally revealing the full set of changes in the long-awaited update.

In case you forgot, the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley was supposed to be a small one. Creator Eric Barone warned players in 2022 that the update would mostly focus on support for modders and "won't be massive."

That promise did not last long, and Barone continued to add a variety of things: new farm types, three new festivals, 8-player multiplayer support, "new late-game content," etc.

The promise of all these new highlights understandably excited fans, and Barone's announcement that "so many things are being added to different aspects of the game" did nothing to calm the situation. Nor did his decision last week to begin releasing the 1.6 patch notes, one at a time, in a slow drip-drip-drip manner, quell the situation.

Some unforgettable highlights:

There are more, but you get the idea. The week was very productive.

Barone revealed the release date for the 1.6 update in February, but has been tight-lipped about when it will be released. He riffed on this vague promise earlier today, prolonging everyone's anguish (and his amusement) just a bit.

Anyway, we had a lot of fun (and we hope Eric did too): the Stardew Valley 1.6 update is live, and the full patch notes are below (please forgive any formatting errors). Note that Barone recently stated that over 1,000 mods have been updated to be compatible with Stardew 1.6, but if you do not want the update, a public branch has been added to Steam and players can stay on version 1.5.6 .
