Latest "Starfield" Update Adds No New Content, But Fixes Galaxy-Scale Bug

Starfield's latest update has been released, bringing the promised improvements to photo mode, improved convenience when using the scanner, and other quality-of-life changes. Nothing on a grand scale, but it is worth noting that a truly huge number of bugs and gameplay issues have also been fixed.

Fans have been clamoring for new content for Starfield for months, but unfortunately this has not materialized on that front. Thus, the reception to both the update announcement and today's launch has not been entirely positive: Bethesda promised that major new features would be added to Starfield in 2023, including "survival mechanics" and "new ways to move" in 2024, but but so far there is no sign of that. There is also no word yet on when the "Shattered Space" expansion will appear, and the promised modding tools are still MIA.

So things are not looking good for "Starfield," and some fans are clearly running out of patience. Nevertheless, there are some fans who are sincerely excited about some of the changes in this update: for example, the removal of the digipic cost of using the Undo feature during security minigames seems incredibly trivial, but on Reddit there is genuine (and definitely not ironic) excitement has been generated.

There is also hope that with this massive list of fixes in place, Bethesda can finally put both barrels to work on new content creation. We have no idea how the studio is allocating its resources, but it doesn't seem like an entirely unreasonable expectation: after fixing so many bugs, how many bugs are left?

Bethesda has yet to comment on that possibility, but hopefully we'll hear more about it soon. In the meantime, the full patch notes can be found below.
