Enlisted, a 100-player shooter with a squad of NPCs who are all NPCs, is now on Steam.

The massive shooter "Enlisted" is coming to Steam in Q2 2024, bringing a special FPS flavor to command an entire squad from under the umbrella of a stand-alone launcher. This free-to-play game has gained a following over the years, not only because its approach allows for larger scale combat, but also because the ability to jump between squad members in the event of losing a soldier can ease the pain of death on large FPS maps.

The newly released Steam version is called Enlisted: according to the makers, this is due to "recent massive changes to the game and how far the community and Enlisted have progressed since the first release." Indeed, 2023 is a big year for Enlisted, with the latest several updates revamping nearly every aspect of the game, including the in-game progression and how the campaign is played.

The Steam version will remain fully cross-platform with the standalone PC, PlayStation, and Xbox versions.

Enlisted released an open beta in 2021 and has been releasing and increasing maps, factions, weapons, and features ever since. The most recent major update, last December, split the game progression into a tree that plays by country and allows for more dynamic matchmaking with loadouts of selected countries and equipment. It also added a new class, the APC driver, which can now deploy mobile assembly halls for teams.

"If you would like to migrate your Gaijin.Net account to Steam to play the game while maintaining your progress, we have an account migration option! However, if you want to make sure that all of your purchased funds reach the developer, you can continue to use your Gaijin.Net account."

Enlisted is developed by Darkflow Software, but published by the well-known Gaijin, the same company that develops and publishes the beloved tank, plane and boat game War Thunder. Even if you haven't played the game, there have been heated debates over War Thunder, and classified military documents are famously leaked to prove one's point.
