All of "Diablo 4" Season 3's Most Powerful New Items Drop from the Most Unpopular Bosses

Of all the bosses added in Diablo 4 Season 2, the Beast in the Ice was the trickiest boss to kill. Not only were there many attacks that had to be dodged before they hit him, but he was also a pain to reach in the first place. If you wanted a chance to get the most powerful item in the game, you had to collect nine frustratingly rare items every time you summoned him.

Season 3, which begins tomorrow, will add five new unique items to the Beast in the Ice's loot table. All of them are powerful enough to build your character, like the new gloves that increase the damage of your most basic skills by 200%. Instead of waiting with your fingers crossed for a random drop, you can run back and forth looking for "The Beast in the Ice" to get it.

While the amount of Distilled Fear needed to fight The Beast in The Ice remains the same, Blizzard has increased the drop rate of Distilled Fear in the Nightmare Dungeon, one of the main endgame activities in Diablo 4. Completing a tier 30 nightmare dungeon (which can easily be cleared at level 80 or so) guarantees one Distilled Fear. At higher tiers, you get a second chance every 10 tiers, and at tier 90+ nightmare dungeons, you are guaranteed to get three.

The Distilled Fear boost combines nicely with the new changes that guarantee the highest level of items in Tier 90+ nightmare dungeons. Once your character is strong enough to make it through the dungeon, you will have a good loop for getting the highest level items in the game and materials for bosses that drop even more powerful items.

The five new uniques look incredibly powerful, and some of them are expected to define entirely new builds for certain classes. Sorcerers, for example, will find helmets that make one of their most powerful spells, Meteor, drop three lava at once with no mana cost. They can fill a dungeon with fiery explosions for free.

After playing a season of Ball Lightning's Sorceress, I would have liked to use something a little less orb-intensive. But Meteor certainly looks interesting. I'm indecisive and probably won't make a decision until Season 3 starts tomorrow at 10 am PST.
