If you're in the market for a new gaming chair, it might be a good time. Secretlab, makers of our favorite gaming chair, the Secretlab Titan Evo, is launching a lower-priced model that shares many features with the best gaming chairs.
On the surface, you may not be able to tell much difference between the Titan Evo and the Titan Evo Lite. Both share the same multi-tilt recline, seat base design, foam construction, and style, but there are some important differences.
First, the Evo Lite is only available in Medium and Large sizes. Small size chairs are only available on the more premium models. The upholstery is also slightly different. While the Lite offers prime 2.0 leatherette and soft weave fabric options, the Titan offers the latest versions of both. based on my experience with Secretlab chairs before the Titan Evo, I would expect the cheaper material to last longer. I would expect the cheaper material to last longer.
The lumbar support is less flexible on the Lite than on the Evo, and the wheelbase is also nylon on the Lite medium model rather than the aluminum base of the Evo. Nevertheless, the Large Lite also has an aluminum base, which may be a more desirable option.
The magnetic armrests and head pillow that were popular on the Titan Evo are not available on the Titan Lite. However, a magnetic head pillow can be used with the Titan Lite if purchased separately. However, the Lite is not cheap enough to be considered inexpensive, and if you are also adding the $49 magnetic headrest to your cart, the Lite is definitely a better value.
Starting at $449 in its cheapest form in the US, the Titan Lite will be priced the same as the Titan Evo, which will be available in 2021. This is the price I mentioned in my review of the Titan Evo at the time. Due to rising costs and inflation, the Titan Evo is now $549, $100 more than the Lite.
Secret Labs Titan Lite World Price:
Personally, I would still buy the Evo if its price dropped from $510 to around $520, as it did several times late last year. That's the price of the light plus magnetic head cushion.
Similarly, Lite does not appear to be priced in a way that would draw customers away from the lower end of the gaming chair market. Those looking for a budget gaming chair will likely consider less expensive options such as Corsair's TC100 Relaxed, which costs about $250 or less. Prices can drop to as low as $190 during big sales. Lite, on the other hand, is still a fairly premium product, judging by its market positioning.
Lite is not yet available, but will be soon. At or around launch, it will be available in several regions: the US, Singapore, Europe, the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Malaysia.
I haven't rested my tired butt on this chair, so I can't speak to the detailed differences between it and the competition. Nor can I say with any confidence whether it is worth buying this chair instead of the one I am sitting in as I write this. But I am eager to find out for sure. If it can rival the Evo in important areas, it would certainly be an interesting proposition.
