Final Fantasy 14 brings a new change to the regular Moogle Tombstone event by adding both a Weekly Challenge and an Event Long Challenge.

Final Fantasy 14's next event, the Moogle Treasure Trove, has been announced. The event, which will keep players occupied between major patches, will allow players to earn tomostones by participating in certain activities, which they can then spend on glamour items, mounts, emotes, hairstyles, etc. [In 2021, for example, I spent a frankly staggering amount of time with Bahamut's Binding Coil because it was the quickest way to get an Inferno Jacket. I'm not proud of it.

Fortunately, the FF14 hunt starting January 30 will change things. The Genesis First Hunt will feature a small note called Moppendium. In addition, there will be two types of weekly challenges.

The first type is a standard Weekly Objective, in which you are directed to one of the existing missions in order to earn a bonus Tombstone. This helps to avoid the whole "bind coil prison" situation by giving you an incentive to do something so that you don't repeatedly kick the Allagan orb (figuratively) in the teeth.

The second type is the mini-mog challenge, which at first glance appears rather puzzling. Judging from the screenshots, it appears to include Great Hunt, Triple Triad, Fishing, and Treasure Map, which would lead one to a side activity in the world.

There also appears to be an eventful and lengthy Ultimog Challenges, but it is unclear what exactly they will be.

Frankly, this is a welcome change. I have always enjoyed these events, but have always been vulnerable to players optimizing all the fun for themselves (that's me. I farmed out two jackets for two different characters and still haven't forgiven myself).

The first hunt for Genesis will begin on January 30 and run through March 11.
