New Five Nights at Freddy's leaked, but creator Scott Cawthon says it's okay

When the trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's' new film "Into the Pit" was first released, the Five Nights subreddit immediately took it down, warning that "until the trailer is officially released, all discussion about it will be removed." It did so. But then Five Nights creator Scott Cawthon jumped in and said it was okay now, so now everyone can talk about it without feeling bad.

The new FNAF game is being produced by Mega Cat Studios, developers of the wrestling adventure "Wrestlequest," and it looks to be a different take on the series, with side-scrolling gameplay and a unique retro style. But the core elements are clearly visible: stealth and evasion seem to be central to survival (generally speaking, not because roaming around in old ducts is fun), and yes, jump scares remain. The new game appears to be based on "Into the Pit," a collection of three short stories that make up the first volume of the "Fazbear Frights" series.

"No need to keep it a secret," Cawthon wrote on Reddit shortly after the leak.

"It's ok! Yes, I wanted to keep it a little more secret, but it's ok, it's out now. This game has actually been in development for a really long time, it's going to be our 10th anniversary game

Cawthon, who retired from working on the series in 2021 due to controversial donations to conservative political action committees and politicians, including Donald Trump, recently announced that Five for Roblox Nights at Freddy's for Roblox, was nonchalant about the unintended release of the official game; in December 2023, he said, "[This release] is one of the most inexplicable and insane things that has happened in my 10 years of working with FNAF."

Other Into the Pit details have yet to be released - whether Cawthon is cool with it or not, it's still a leak - but I like the way they've taken the classic Five Nights horror and put it into a completely different style of game. 10th Anniversary The reference to the August release date could be a reference to the August release date: the original Five Nights at Freddy's was released on August 8, 2014.
