I don't have the financial resources to get into trading card games, but I do like to watch the meta fluctuations from afar. Disney's CCGs are particularly interesting because strange strategies keep emerging around obscure characters like Hiram Flaversham. In this case, it's an anti-strategy with no good reason to use it.

As discovered by Dicebreaker, Lorcana has released a new preview of its second expansion, Into the Inklands. This latest bundle includes 101 Dalmatian puppies, and while there are no 101 custom-made cards (there are five variations for collectors), the competitive crowd can get their hands on 101 puppies.

The Dalmatian Puppy (Tail Wagger) is not a special card, costing 2, 2 strength, and 3 willpower. However, this card has special characteristics. Normally, Lorquana can have no more than four of any card.

It synergizes with "Pongo, the 100th Dalmatian" (which can spend a resource named ink to draw a character card into your hand), but there is no real reason to do so. Perdita has yet to be revealed and I can't make this number 101, but she will be included in a full expansion, so maybe then it will all make sense.

Granted, as far as I can tell, Lorquana has no action limits or anything. If you have 12 of these suckers in your hand, you can play them. However, ink is limited by the amount of cards in the "ink pot" and you can only put one card in each turn. So unless there are existing synergies or synergies to be revealed, we have no idea how this would work.

Still, there is no need to cram 99 puppies into a deck like a custom fur coat. Alternatively, this will remain a cute little reference instead of an actual disaster in the meta. I don't want to imagine Elsa reaping a pack of adorable puppies.

Then again, the great mouse detective character is the flavor sham of the month. I believe someone will crack the code to the Infinite Dalmatian Horde Strat and summon a tide of excited puppies as they play Starcraft's Zerg. Cruella de Bill better watch out.
