When trying to experience all of the hundreds of hours of a great RPG, New Game+ is often an indispensable tool for playing the game a second or third time without too much mental damage. Some games, such as the "Persona" series, even require that the game be played on NG+ if a complete and complete adventure is desired.
For this reason, Sega's upcoming "Ryu ga Gotoku Restoration! is rocking NG+ is even more puzzling: Sega's upcoming "Ryu ga Gotoku: Restoration! has locked the New Game+ mode behind the Deluxe and Ultimate editions, charging an additional $15 and $40 for the base game, respectively, which is even more perplexing. The series has traditionally locked unique features like the legendary difficulty mode behind NG+.
Specifically, NG+ is incorporated into the "Master Vacation Bundle," which is not included in the base version of the game. According to the game's official website, this bundle also includes bonus dungeons, special Suzimon (the Pokémon-like mode ones), resort guests, and "other" costumes.
Frustratingly, these details are not listed on the game's Steam page; the Steam page lists each edition and its bundle, but does not detail what each includes. In other words, judging solely from the Steam page, it is quite reasonable to assume that a series that has traditionally included NG+ at no extra charge would also include NG+ in the standard edition.
It seems a bit outrageous to me that such a basic feature requires at least a $15 upgrade. Of course, you can get a few other goodies for the pleasure, but they are quite optional in nature.
Of course, there is still the possibility that this is a confusing representation on Sega's part. However, given that one Redditor noticed this situation about a month ago and contacted me to say, "Yeah, this is legit," I'm not too sure. In any case, I have asked Sega for an explanation of this situation and will update this post if I hear anything back.
