Type it, idiots! Drop pre-orders new artisanal LOTR keycaps.

Look, I'm not even the world's biggest fan of the series. I can certainly cite it, but for me, The Lord of the Rings was a very dense series of books that I felt the need to read through when I was in school, and then a series of movies that were quite entertaining to watch on a Sunday afternoon while leaning back on the couch.

But when I saw that Drops' new artisanal Rohan-themed LOTR keycaps were available for pre-order, even I wanted one.

According to Drops, it is a tribute to the Rohan people and the places they ran through (in fiction), but the appeal of this keycap is not the theme, but the beauty of the object itself.

Normally, I would let my words speak for themselves, but in this case I think it is better to just let you see it. It's a small LOTR diorama encased in resin. Little touches like the wood textured horse face to face or the red glowing horse that lives up to the name "Red Day". The mossy textures and delicate flowers of "Barrowfield. The turquoise blue of "Deepening Stream.

Now, let's shut up and look at the gallery already. Behold:

This cannot be. I have spent years on this earth convincing myself that I am a twisted person, always with one eyebrow raised and a look of disbelief on my face. I am immune to all things cute, whimsical, and petty.

And yet, just looking at a picture of a themed keycap reveals something childish in me, and I'm embarrassed, to say the least.

I should be, but for what it's worth, I'm not. I'm not apologizing anymore. I must resign myself to my nerdiness, like taking a warm and very awkward bath.

After all, this product is very, very satisfying, and if you want to own one yourself, according to Drop, it is compatible with Cherry MX switches and clones (that is if you want to use, not display, this absolute balrog), and at 1 49 (!) per cap. and will ship on April 30 of this year.

I may or may not be tempted by then. Andy, get a grip.

Stupid hobbits.
