The first Humble Choice Bundle of 2024 features some of our favorite superhero games of the last few years!

Humble has launched its first Choice Bundle of the year (available through its charity-focused $12 subscription service); Marvel's Midnight Suns is available to subscribers at no extra charge, along with seven other games.

I'm not much of a Marvel guy these days, but "Midnight Suns" definitely caught my eye; the GOTY runner-up for 2022 is a tactical deck-building RPG from "XCOM" creators Firaxis, but randomized mooks weak on permadeath instead controls classic Marvel heroes such as Blade, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man.

One of the biggest surprises of the game was how much it leaned on BioWare's fantasy of having a large group of digital friends back at home base; PCG editor-in-chief Evan Lahti said, "You can take long walks with Tony Stark, take Blade on picnic, or bitch about your wicked parents with your goth buddy Nico Minoru," he exclaimed. Fraser Brown, an online editor with an emphasis on character-based storytelling, described "Midnight Suns" as closer to "Fire Emblem" than "XCOM."

Midnight Suns definitely feels like the real gem of this Humble Choice Bundle, but there are several other winners. The Red Lantern, a dog sled survival voyage game, has always intrigued me, and the higher education management sim Two Point Campus is another option I'm interested in.

The fact that Humble Choice games can be yours, as opposed to the ephemeral offerings of Game Pass, is a big draw for me. I know that most of my games are digital and subject to the whims of rights holders, my own Internet access, and (I swear to God) the instability of the platforms I use, but to take advantage of the January Humble Choice Bundle, by the end of the month You must sign up.
