Final Fantasy 14 producer Naoki "Yoshi P" Yoshida said that the release date for the expansion "Dawn Trail" is less certain than the summer of 2024 because he would rather not release it than give it a release date that has to be postponed. The release date will be announced at this weekend's Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festa 2024, as is customary.
"Given that this is a fanfest, ....... Being a fanfest, you are probably all expecting the Dawntrail release date to be announced." Unfortunately, while we do have a target date internally, we will not be sharing it today as we are adjusting our schedule to make sure it is tweaked as much as possible before we announce."
"If we do have a release date for Dawntrail we will announce it.
"You may wonder why, but as you know, for the first time in my career, we had to postpone the release of Endwalker. We don't want that to happen again, even if it is only for a few weeks. So I take great care to make sure the schedule is on schedule before I announce it.
"It will be in the summer," he said, before making it clear that this release window would be direct and firm, not loose Square Enix time like the legendary Valve Time. Final Fantasy] 16 said it would be released in the summer; it was released in June." We are not going to release it on Square Enix Time, we are going to release it on Square Enix Time.
Yoshida made this statement during a live stream of Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2024 on January 6.
Yoshida, director of development for Final Fantasy 14, is known by many in the community by his screen name Yoshi P. Yoshida has long been the face of Square Enix when it comes to MMOs.
