Flashlight teaser for "Dead by Daylight" has fans convinced that "Alan Wake" is coming.

A few months after introducing the diminutive psycho assassin Chucky in the massively multiplayer survival horror game "Dead by Daylight," Behaviour Interactive is teasing new information.

Content-wise, this preview is very thin: a flashlight. It's true that Alan Wake is a big fan of flashlights, and flashlights are the best way to protect yourself from the presence of darkness, but as several people on Twitter have pointed out, flashlights also play a big role in "Dead by Daylight". Survivors can use the flashlight to temporarily blind the killer and escape at a moment's notice.

But that is not the only crossover to be expected with "Alan Wake. A flashlight on the table illuminates a bunch of blood-stained pages.

It is also plausible to question why Behaviour Interactive would preview a new addition to the game with a picture of a commonly used tool. There is no doubt that flashlights are useful in the DbD world, but I don't think they have the same symbolic weight as, say, Valve dropping an image of a crowbar to preview Half-Life 3. (In hindsight, Dead by Daylight fan g0rejira's December 28 tweet is also interesting. Lucky? Lucky?

The "Alan Wake" tie-in is a pretty big deal for a video game tie-in, but it's certainly not beyond the scope of "Dead by Daylight". Behavioral Interactive has done big crossovers in the past with movies ("Hellraiser"), TV shows ("Stranger Things"), big-name actors ("Nicolas Cage"), other video games ("Resident Evil"), and even K-pop. In that sense, the partnership with Alan Wake makes sense, and it would not be the first time in recent months that Remedy has brought his favorite troubled author into another game: Alan Wake appeared in Fortnite in October 2023, ahead of the release of Alan Wake 2

I emailed Behaviour Interactive and Remedy to ask if an "Alan Wake" crossover was indeed in the works, but no one would talk. Teas wrote that followers "will know more details on January 9. We will let you know what happens.
