Alienware's New 32" 4K 240Hz OLED Gaming Monitor Is Made of Pure Want

Alienware announced the Alienware 32 AW3225QF, a 32-inch 4K OLED gaming panel. Alienware also announced a new 27" 1440p OLED monitor running at 360 Hz.

But first, a new 32" beauty. Like previous Alienware OLED gaming monitors, it uses Samsung's QD-OLED panel technology. That said, the main novelty here is pixel density. At 140 DPI, this new panel is much denser than existing OLED gaming monitors, including Alienware's own panels like the Alienware 34 AW3423DWF, which currently maxes out at about 110 DPI on various 34-inch ultra-wide angle and 27-inch 1440p models It is.

Alienware says the new AW3225QF will achieve HDR brightness of 1,000 nits, but it is not clear how this new high-density OLED panel compares to existing QD-OLED monitors at full-screen brightness.

Another feature that is not clear is the panel coating. The spec sheet says "anti-reflective," which may imply a matte rather than glossy coating. However, Alienware uses exactly the same term for both glossy and non-glossy versions of the 34" OLED. Therefore, we will have to wait and see for a while.

Otherwise, the response time is 0.03ms and the color reproduction is 99% DCI-P3, which are pretty impressive specs, but look pretty familiar. Oh yeah, one more thing I forgot to mention: it runs at 240Hz. In other words, this is a 4K, 240Hz, 32-inch OLED that many would call the ultimate gaming monitor. [Of course, the Alienware 32 AW3225QF is not the only 32-inch 4K OLED monitor on offer; there are also panels based on LG's WOLED technology. However, Dell and Alienware tend to get started on panel technology fairly quickly, so the AW3225QF may be the first one actually available for purchase on January 11.

As for the price, it is $1,199. This is less than the price of the first 34" ultra-wide OLED that Alienware released in early 2022. It is currently available for $800. So there is some hope that the price of the new 32-inch model may drop fairly quickly.

If the 32-inch 4K model is arguably Alienware's most exciting new OLED, the new Alienware 27 AW2725DF is not to be outdone. It's a 27-inch 1440p model optimized for speed. It has the same 0.03ms response time as other Alienware OLEDs, but the refresh rate has been increased to 360Hz.

This should make for a pretty unbeatable combo of low latency and sharp pixel response. The price is $899 and the release date is the same, January 11.
