Almost 20 years have passed since the action RPG "Monster Hunter" series was released on the PlayStation 2, and to celebrate its success, Capcom and MSI have collaborated to release a variety of Monster Hunter-themed products, including gaming notebook PCs, PC cases, monitors, and game pads. A variety of products were released. Some of them are very nice, but some were missed opportunities.

Of course, game-themed PC parts are nothing new, and every year at least one company releases a product with a particular game tie-in style. In many cases, that product is just one or two items, and in some cases it has not gone through a thorough check before hitting store shelves

However, in the case of the MSI and Capcom collaboration to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Monster Hunter, there are quite a few items to tempt you.

First up is the MSI Crosshair 16 HX Monster Hunter Edition gaming laptop, although details are a bit thin. This particular model is powered by an RTX 4060 laptop GPU, but we don't know about its power limitations or other specs.

The latest version of MSI's standard Crosshair 16 HX laptop is topped with a Core i7 14700 HX and RTX 4070, but the CPU, RAM, and storage for the Monster Hunter Edition are unknown. It looks pretty good, and if the full specs are decent (e.g., at least 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD), it could make a great gift for MH fans.

If you want to enjoy Monster Hunter on a fully self-built PC, an MH-themed PC case, MPG Z790 Edge motherboard, RTX 4060 Ti 8GB graphics card, 360mm AIO CPU cooler, 27" 1440p 180Hz IPS monitor You should be able to get the following. As far as I can tell, these items don't add anything over the regular version, just the Monster Hunter color palette and an array of stickers.

As is normal in such collaborations, vendors do not always opt for the highest spec models for a special look. However, the cases, coolers, motherboards, and monitors are all pretty decent. Whether it's worth the extra money will depend on how avid a Monster Hunter fan you are.

But honestly, we can't recommend the RTX 4060 Ti Monster Hunter card enough. Partly because this card is the least MH-like, but mostly because it is an RTX 4060 Ti. [Considering that it is the least attractive model in Nvidia's RTX 40 series, and that you will be paying a higher premium than the regular version just for the Monster Hunter styling, it is much better to put that money into the RTX 4070 or even better, the new RTX 4070 Super It would be better.

Pricing has not yet been revealed, but look up the price of the regular version and add 20% more for the theme.

If all of this looks pretty expensive, you could at least go for the Force GC30 Monster Hunter Gamepad; Xbox-style controllers usually sell for around $30, so hopefully the Capcom version won't be too expensive.

Monster Hunter's 20th birthday officially falls in March of this year, so there is still some time before MSI's product will be available for purchase. The specs may change by then, which may explain why almost nothing has been said about the laptop, but at least we'll have a little more time to make up our minds about it.
