We gave "Forza Motorsport" a fairly high rating when it was released in October 2023, despite some technical concerns: visit Steam and you'll quickly notice that the nearly 5,000 user reviews are "mostly negative". Complaints vary: some users suffer from bugs and performance issues, while others feel the game lacks content and "personality," as one negative review states.
Three months after the game's release, developer Turn 10 says significant changes are planned "in the coming months" to address these complaints. updates posted on Steam are the studio's "top three areas of feedback not directly addressed" which it said were focused on car progression, Forza Race Regulations, and AI drivers.
Car progression is a "controversial topic," Turn 10 said: some players like it, but "for many others, it doesn't provide the upgrade experience they expect from Forza Motorsport." The developers are considering changes to the system that would keep what works and change what doesn't, but players shouldn't expect any major moves on that front anytime soon: it's a "top priority," but Turn 10 will "properly evaluate the options, make the necessary code changes to and thoroughly testing those code changes will take time," it warns.
The Forza Race Regulations, the system that identifies and penalizes infractions on the track, will also be changed. According to Turn 10, players have complained that the decisions are "inconsistent or unfair," so over the next few months they will be collecting telemetry data from "long-time competitive motorsport players" to figure out what is going wrong and make adjustments as needed. They plan to make adjustments as needed.
And finally, AI, which apparently isn't much better: AI-equipped drivers sometimes brake improperly, accelerate too slowly, or follow the racing line too closely. We understand how important it is to have fair and competitive AI in motorsports, and our top priority in early 2024 is to address overly aggressive AI and clean race starts into turn 1, where many of the above issues appear most severe and affect players which affects players the most," Turn 10 writes.
(To be fair to the AI, turn 1 can be a nightmare for real-world drivers as well.)
So, while there are no major changes coming to "Forza Motorsport" anytime soon, at this stage, and as far as user reviews on Steam The response to the message on Steam has been mixed, with some fans happy to know that the studio hasn't washed its hands of the game, and others angry that the game was released in its current state and that it took so long to admit it. Some fans are angry that it took so long.
In addition to the above issues, more changes are planned: Turn 10 states that they are "just a sampling of the things we see most often and know you care passionately about."
