Blizzard Stops "Diablo 4" Transactions Again, Warns "Action Will Be Taken" Against Players Using New Replication Exploit

Blizzard has suspended Diablo 4 trading while it works to fix a replication exploit uncovered over the weekend, warning that players who took advantage of the bug could get into trouble.

"Due to a replication exploit, we have suspended Diablo 4 player trading until further notice," community manager Rich Bantegui wrote on Blizzard's forums. 'We are working to fix this issue and will update you once we have restored your ability to trade. We will continue to monitor this activity to ensure a healthy playing experience for all.

"Accounts abusing gold or item duplication will be dealt with in accordance with the End User License Agreement." [Specifically, Blizzard's EULA prohibits the creation, use, and sale of duplicate items. Replicated items are "in-game items created or copied by exploiting a platform design flaw, undocumented problem, or programming bug." Penalties for such behavior could include suspension or outright banning from the game. Seems like a pretty high risk for a low reward: as mentioned last week, the current season of Diablo 4 drops so much loot in normal gameplay that it feels like something is broken, but Blizzard claims otherwise.

This is the second time since the launch of Diablo 4 that Blizzard has been forced to suspend player transactions due to a duplicate bug: the first suspension occurred during the game's first season in August. As was the case then, quite a few players on Reddit seem surprised that deals exist for this game.

At this time, Blizzard has not revealed when the Diablo 4 deal will resume, but the first outage took roughly a day to fix. We will update again when that happens.
